IIT Exam Reform – Solution or Create More Questions?–Please care to all students
Posted on Friday, September 30 @ 02:13:34 MST by gops

General topics ajaysingh_iitr writes "Every one knows that recommendations of entrance exam of IITs are implementing. But it is a better solution of previous exam pattern or will create more burdens on the entire student because our education system is already questionable about teaching methodology in which individual creativity cannot glorify. It is the basic reason that India is lacking in research work. Every child is inherent genius and it is duty of all system to accumulate its energy for development of society.

We should care all types of children. Especially I am saying about rural background students because they have less information. Actually his awareness enhance after 10+2 exam. When they will ready to face the exam but they will find that they are out of this exam. Before execution of any policy, first ready to confront real challenges from the bottom. “ CONFRONT THE BRUTAL FACTS (yet never lose faith)”------Good to Great by Prof. Jim Collins (distinguished teacher of Stanford University)

Reform of previous IIT Exam pattern creates more questions about vision, strategy and execution. A true vision creates a healthy environment in which all children felt very comfortable for enhancing their capabilities. This type of controls or rules can damage it. Our children is already overburdened with family or society pressure and more our education system. It is a better strategy when it works bottom up because vision of developed India depends on development of rural India as well as urban India. About execution, one question also remarkable that if VISION and STRATEGY are RIGHT than it is a right time for execution or not? Or we should wait few years. BECAUSE WHAT ACTIONS IIT SYSTEM WILL TAKE, AFTER SOME TIMES IT WILL BE A BENCHMARK FOR ALL INSTITUTE. So just care and think or Can we adopt another route for fulfillment of our real VISION.
“ Let noble thoughts come to us from every side”
- Rig Veda
(With bless of IITian spirit, I have mentioned few ideas by my lens but we have multiple strong lenses in our integrated family for achieving alternate better paths. So please critically analyze and WRITE DECISIVE COMMENTS. So that we can forward all ideas to all IITs and president of India.)

IIT Exam Reform (What we say eligible criteria) – Solution vs. Question
These are following eligible criteria, which create more questions. I am highlighting few
Problems in question form:

1.Candidate appearing in (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in 2006 must secure at least 60 % marks in the aggregate in their respective board examination.

QUE: See the problem at the ground level, definitely we cannot ignore it. Because when we compare to all board like CBSE, UP Board and BIHAR Board. We will find that Gaps in marks are very uneven (big difference- approx-10%) in all board. If we say that all board will treat equally, definitely we are closing our eyes on real facts.

QUE: we cannot blame to any coaching institute because anyone takes coaching classes because schools are unable to provide systematic education. If we say that coaching institute is hampering development of child, definitely it is true for school also. Target to coaching institute is a just solves the problem at upper level but real problem exist at the bottom (in the teaching methodology of school). It is better if we provide A PREVENTIVE solution not a remedial action.

2.A student can have only two attempts to write JEE with affect from 2006- in the year in which he or she passes the 12th standard examination and /or in the following year

QUE: Are rural background students ready for exam? Because rural students are already lack of information (awareness). Actually his awareness enhance after 10+2 exam. When they will ready to face the exam but they will find that they are out of this exam

3.Candidate who joins any of the IITs, IT-BHU and ISM, Dhanbad through JEE – 2006 will not be permitted to appear in JEE Future.

QUE: why? I am unable to understand what is the strategy behind this action?
Any research wants more choices and more alternatives and more freedom?
Already our education system or society does not give any chance for designing a path on which a student can unleash own unique capabilities that are basic needs of research.
Second thing, if a student have a passion for mechanical engineering but unfortunately he get metallurgy engineering. So question is here how we can reduce choices at this time when whole world is flat and every body is free to make any path. At this type of environment, how can we expect research from that student?

Conclusion: The legacy of IIT system is more than any rules & regulation, more than any person and more than any individual interest of any system. Its glorious brand image is expanding everyday in the world. So it brings more responsibility for taking any strategic decision for attaining real VISION, which will make it a world-class institute like Stanford University, MIT and Howard University. India has large human resource but may not be. Only RIGHT human resource is an invaluable resource. It depends on right education, which produce right person.
I am concluding this article with few lines from “Built to last” authored by Prof. Jim Colin & Prof. Jerry I. Porras (Stanford University) :
“ This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is perhaps, the end of the beginning”.

Ajay, I am glad that you brought up this subject. Not only our entrance examination system but a lot more needs to be looked into and improved upon. IIT-Roorkee has been losing it's reputation very fast. I wonder if it is because we have become an IIT or we have lost leadership during the past few years.

IDEA 1: just segment different types of students:
First circle: Rural students
Second second: Urban Student
Third circle: Central board students
Fourth fourth: State board students(Overlapping of students with each other in this circles)
PROBLEM: Definitely problem is complex for harmonizing interest of all simultaneously but
IITians enjoy in complexity and make it simple. Therefore we can design a criterion for Benefits of all students.

IDEA 2:QUE: Development has four dimensions: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development. Our education system in which direction is moving? Every one knows! Children are stressful,So don’t move them toward remedial action. Give them inner strength (spiritual strength – India is a leader in this area), which is really a preventive action.
If we say that we are more concentrated on mental development and we will find that our education system is trying to make a library in the brain but I think that mind works effectively and efficiently on a strong body platform by proper information (right knowledge) and release a sound decision when it directs from heart and spirits. Can we ignore any dimension? If not, so please do not wait, do action. Because things don’t turn up in this world until we turn them up.
NEED: 1. Reduce the Weight of bag!
2. Reduce the assignment for home!
3. Give more time for playing (real development in long term for evolution of team spirits, courage, risk-taking, confidence, leadership qualities extra which does not achieve from books).

A Diferent Lens :IIT EXAM REFORM-Check the strategy for target coaching institute and Its future impact?
Can we ignore this question … it may be right or wrong. But we will face it in coming years!

QUE 1: Presently a student takes coaching classes after passing 10th. But after recommendation of these eligible criterion will encourage to students to join the coaching classes from 8th class, it will definitely happen …it is our student’s mindsets…so please consider it

QUE 2: in a previous pattern, some students prepare IIT JEE self-basis. But after recommendation of these eligible criteria Students will not have any chance. So he definitely joins coaching classes. Now it will benefit to coaching classes.

QUE 3: Now coaching classes will target 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 12+1.So it is easy task for them ……STILL THEY HAVE “5 YEARS” FOR COACHING NOW COACHING WILL SHIFT BACK TO TWO YEARS AND SOLUTION WILL ENTER INTO “ CIRCULAR LOOP”.
So estimate the stress level.. Now stress will spread to 9th, 10th also. Basically our motive here to concentrate our attention for providing PREVENTIVE SOLUTION solution not just remedial action.
with wishes ....ajay
