Prof Pradipta Banerji joins IIT Roorkee as Director
|
|
Prof. Pradipta Banerji graduated with a B.Tech. degree from IIT Delhi in 1981, securing the Director's Silver Medal as the top-ranked graduating student in Civil Engineering. He has also been the recipient of the National Science Talent Scholarship in India. He completed M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, with specialization in Earthquake Engineering. During his studies at Berkeley, he was awarded the UC Regents' Fellowship twice, the prestigious Popert Research Fellowship, and a Distinguished Teaching Award. Prior to joining I I T Roorkee as Director, Professor Pradipta Banerji has been a Professor of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay, where he was since 1988.

Dear Friend,
Some of you might not remember me. A brief introduction - I joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering in Roorkee in 1958. Came to USA in 1960 for three years on leave, completed my MS and PhD degrees (1961-63) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Then, I returned to Roorkee to teach there in the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering from 1963 to 1974.
